Workforce strategy
A skilled, competent and sustainable workforce is necessary to ensure Queensland continues to attract sufficient commonwealth funding contributions – establishing sustainable provision of public health services to Queenslanders. The workforce also enables performance reporting and continuous improvement of health services through consistent national reporting models.
There are limitations in the current workforce, such as workforce availability and suitably experienced applicant pools. This can impact hospital and health system operations, funding and reimbursement processes and data accuracy throughout Queensland. These limitations can be exacerbated by the need for skilled professionals to dedicate precious capacity to upskill graduates who are not graduating ‘job-ready’.
