Workplace health and safety investigation – Townsville University Hospital

The Townsville Hospital and Health Service commissioned an investigation following the sexual assault of a staff member by a patient at Townsville University Hospital in August 2024.

The investigation examined the facts and circumstances of the incident and considered the immediate and longer-term response to it.

The investigation made four recommendations, which the Townsville Hospital and Health Service accepted.
