Investigation into Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service
On 30 August 2023 Queensland Health commissioned an independent Health Service Investigation to investigate concerns raised regarding the delivery of public sector health services provided by Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Services (TCHHS) to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the TCHHS health service area.
The Investigation is being undertaken by First Nations professionals with vast experience in health, in accordance with the Terms of Reference (PDF 66 kB).
The investigators have delivered the final report for Part A of the Terms of Reference to the Director-General as required under the Hospital and Health Board Act 2011.
The Investigation for Part B, which considers the cultural safety of health services provided by the TCHHS for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and those receiving care, is ongoing and a final report will be delivered on Part B in due course.
