About the strategy
Our Digital Information Strategy 2022 – 2027 (PDF 3514 kB) sets out how we're using digital solutions to improve mental health, alcohol and other drug care.
Our vision is to advance healthcare and outcomes for Queenslanders with mental health and substance use issues, through digital health innovations and integrated information.
Our goal is an information-enabled and efficient mental health alcohol and other drugs health care system that provides:
- digitally enabled treatment, care and support which improves continuity of care and outcomes
- seamless care for consumers through integrated digital services
- data insights to inform governance, planning and improvements across the health care system.
We consulted with over 200 stakeholders including consumers, carers and families to develop the strategy. We found the main needs of Queenslanders are to:
- have more choice and control over health care decisions
- maintain privacy and improve transparency around health care data and information
- be involved in co-designing health care services that meet consumer needs
- improve equity of access to help people access care when and where they need it.
Our digital information strategy supports Better Care Together, our plan for Queensland’s state-funded mental health, alcohol and other drug services
Our focus areas
We're focused on designing and developing the following solutions.
- Self-service consumer experiences where people can access information and get care through their channel of choice
- Clinical information systems that are integrated and support evidence-based treatment and care
- Modern information databases that support data analytics and the use of Al tools
Why it's important
With growing demand for mental health, alcohol and other drugs health care across Queensland, digital solutions offer ways to improve the care we provide. Our investment will also help us continue to provide safe, efficient and quality care to Queenslanders, now and in the future.
Our planned digital innovations will also help us:
- meet our state and national priorities for mental health, alcohol and other drugs care
- help consumers better engage with care services and take part in their own care
- reduce risk and improve clinical care efficiency
- through data insights, help make better care decisions, improve access to and grow our health services in priority areas
- better collaborate across the entire health system through sharing insights and information.
