About the new service
The Rockhampton residential rehabilitation and withdrawal service opened in December 2021.
It offers alcohol and other drugs treatment and support to people experiencing problematic substance use. The service is available to people from the Rockhampton region and includes up to 42 places for residential treatment.
Rockhampton is our first new rehabilitation and withdrawal service to open. We're planning 3 other locations across Queensland. Find out more about our new residential rehabilitation and withdrawal services.
Naming the new service
The service is named Binbi Yadubay which means healthy beginnings. It’s pronounced as 'bine-be-ya-do-bay'. It’s in the language of the Darumbal peoples, the traditional owners of the land where the service is. We thank the Darumbal Elders for giving us permission to use the name.
Locations
Binbi Yadubay is in North Rockhampton, located at 12 Nuttall St, Parkhurst Qld 4702.
There is also a youth non-residential day program located at 155 Alma St, Rockhampton City Qld 4700. Find out more about the youth service on the Lives Lived Well website.
Who it’s for
Binbi Yadubay offers a range of services for:
- adults over 18 years
- young people from 12 to 21 years
- parents and families with children under 10 years.
It's a voluntary service. It’s available to people who the service provider, Lives Lived Well, thinks are suitable for a residential program.
Lives Lived Well will assess people referred to the program to make sure it's right for them.
How the service is managed
Lives Lived Well is the service provider. They are a not-for-profit organisation that helps people impacted by alcohol and other drug use. They also provide mental health support.
Lives Lived Well operates across Australia and has been in the Rockhampton community for over 5 years. They were involved in our planning and community consultation process and are responsible for managing all operations of the service including:
- staffing and training
- treatment and individual care planning
- referrals and admissions.
Community safety is a main priority for the service. Lives Lived Well makes sure staff, clients and visitors are aware of the rules of the service. Lives Lived Well will manage clients and visitors including any possible incidents, disturbances, or nuisances if they happen.
If you have any questions about how the service is managed, you can contact Lives Lived Well on their website.
What services are available
Binbi Yadubay offers 3 residential rehabilitation and withdrawal services for adults. The centre includes:
- 32 live-in places for residential rehabilitation
- 8 places for withdrawal management
- 2 family unit places for parents.

Family units
The 2 family units provide a safe and supportive environment for parents who want to get treatment for problematic substance use. It can be difficult for parents to get treatment due to parenting or carer responsibilities. The family units allow parents to bring their children to the service while getting treatment. Children up to 10 years of age can stay with their family. Children are also provided care and support by qualified staff from Lives Lived Well.
There is also a non-residential rehabilitation service available for people getting treatment in the community.
Day program for young people
The day support program service is for young people from 12 to 21 years. It offers young people:
- in-person counselling
- care planning
- group programs
- phone and online support.
The service also has a drop-in ‘chill-out zone’ for young people to use where they can talk to staff and get support.
How to access the service
You can refer yourself to the service online. You don’t need a GP referral.
Learn more about self-referrals and admissions on the Lives Lived Well website.
