Queensland subsidy schemes
Subsidy funding for medical aids and equipment is available to eligible Queenslanders with permanent/stable conditions or disabilities. Aids and equipment are subsidy funded either on a permanent loan basis, private ownership or through the supply of consumables.
Subsidy funding is offered under the following schemes:
- Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme (MASS)
- Specialist hospital-based scheme (Cystic Fibrosis Program)
- Queensland HME Subsidy Scheme for Laryngectomy (QHSSL)
Funding for basic aids is offered under the following schemes:
Funding for supply or loan of assistive technology for eligible palliative persons is offered under the following schemes (not permanent loan as noted in initial paragraph)
- MASS Palliative Care Equipment Program (MASS PCEP)
- MASS Palliative Care Syringe Driver Program (MASS PCSDP)
Eligibility*
You may be eligible for assistance under MASS if:
- You are a permanent resident of Queensland.
- You have a permanent or stable condition or disability.
- You hold one of the following eligibility cards in your own name:
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Centrelink Health Care Card
- Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) Pensioner Concession Card (conditions apply)
- Queensland Government Seniors Card
- meet the clinical criteria for each aid.

How to apply
You will need to arrange a clinical assessment by a health professional (clinician) approved by MASS. The health care provider authorised to prescribe particular types of aids and equipment may vary depending on the type of aids that are required.
