Compassionate conversations

The following resources can help you have compassionate conversations over the phone or on a video call.

Compassionate care door signs

You can put these signs on the door to a patient’s room. They let other staff know the person is dying, and to only enter if they need to. They help staff be sensitive to the needs of patients and families, and their culture.

Learn more about using the signs in our compassionate care door sign guide (PDF 267 kB).

Bereavement care

These resources support the family, friends and carers of someone who’s dying, or has died. They can help prepare them for death, cope with grief and loss, and understand what they need to do when someone dies.
