Queensland Plan for Mental Health

Vision

The vision of the Plan is to facilitate access to a comprehensive recovery-oriented mental health system that improves mental health for Queenslanders.

Purpose

The purpose of the Plan is to provide a framework for a whole-of-government approach to the mental health sector; building stronger partnerships with consumers, families, carers, and government and non-government services to achieve better outcomes for people with a mental illness. The Plan promotes mental health and wellbeing and identifies the services and supports needed to assist in the recovery of those experiencing mental health problems.

Scope

The plan is aimed at providing a blueprint for reform for mental health service providers, consumers, carers and families.  Recognising that improvement to mental health systems requires greater collaboration between sectors, the Plan brings together various sectors including housing, education, training, employment, community support, health, corrections, justice, disability, police, emergency services and child safety. Additionally, it is envisaged that the non-government sector will be a key partner in delivering comprehensive community based care and support.
