On 1 March 2011, across Australia, the National Service Standards were replaced by the Community Care Common Standards. The Community Care Common Standards apply to Australian Government Aged Care programs, including Home and Community Care (HACC).
Quality reviews will continue to be conducted by the Institute for Healthy Communities Australia (IHCA) on behalf of the Department of Communities, and the three year review cycle remains. For services in receipt of funding from Commonwealth aged care programs and HACC, a joint review will occur.
Materials to support implementation include the Community Care Common Standards Guide, which is available for download. The guide assists service providers to prepare and participate in a quality review.
