The role of Home and Community Care (HACC) allied health professionals is to help clients and their carers function to the best of their ability at home and in the community. Allied health services assist clients to maintain or resume their normal activities, participate in their community and enjoy life again.
Assistance and support is targeted at all HACC eligible clients in need of allied health services, regardless of their ethnic background or language spoken.
There are a wide range of services to support independent living in the community. The Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre has explained the different community care services (packages and programs) available.
